Scalendar April 2023

Welcome to the April edition of Scalendar, your monthly guide to Scala conferences and events happening worldwide. 

The first edition of Scalendar was a success, with 806 subscribers on LinkedIn and almost 900 subscribers in general.

This indicates a strong interest in Scala-related events and shows that Scalendar is a valuable resource for Scala developers who want to stay up-to-date with the latest conferences and meetups. Scala conferences April 2023

Scala Matsuri

• When: 15-16 April 2023
• Where: Online or Tokyo, Japan

Scala Matsuri is a conference for Scala developers and enthusiasts who want to explore the latest developments in the language and ecosystem. This year’s event will be held online and in person in Tokyo, Japan. Attendees can look forward to hearing from some fantastic Scala developers and immersing themselves in the vibrant culture of Japan.

Functional World 

• When: 18 April 2023, 6 pm CEST 
• Where: Online 

Functional World has attracted over 1000 members on meetup, providing access to articles, videos, and member information. This time you will be able to listen to 2 talks. 

During the first talk, “Holding Scala’s productivity together with ducktape.” Aleksander Rainko from Scalac will share his experience with Scala’s metaprogramming and type-level programming and discuss how the ducktape library can simplify data transformations and eliminate boilerplate. In addition, attendees will learn about integrating ducktape with the current ecosystem and the project’s status.

The second talk is “Cellular Automata for video games in JVM.” The speaker, a product marketing manager in the JetBrains Scala Plugin team, will explain cellular automata and their use in predicting weather animal behavior or city traffic and generating mathematical art. The talk will mainly focus on how to use cellular automata in video games as artificial intelligence.

Third Func Programming Sweden

The third edition of Func Programming Sweden is a virtual meetup that will be streamed live on the Func Prog Sweden YouTube channel. This event is an excellent opportunity for functional programming enthusiasts to connect, share ideas, and learn from each other.

ZIO WORLD Lisbon

• When: 21 April 2023
• Where: Online or in Lisbon, Portugal

ZIO WORLD is a conference for ZIO users and contributors worldwide. This year’s event will focus on the latest developments in ZIO 2.0 and the ecosystem of ZIO 2 libraries. Attendees can look forward to hearing from some of the top minds in the field, including John De Goes, Adam Frasier, and Alexander Ioffe. The event is free for ZIO contributors and evangelists, with a standard ticket price of $1,057.21.

Developer Week
